Chocolate Ride Faces Eleven Rivals in $125,000 Colonel E.R. Bradley Handicap
On Saturday at Fair Grounds, the track will host the $125,000 Colonel E.R. Bradley Handicap. The Grade 3 race will be contested at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf and has drawn a field of twelve colts and geldings.
Chocolate Ride has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 2-1 for trainer Brad Cox. A six-year-old son of Candy Ride (ARG), he has been on the board in nine of his fourteen starts and is a five-time winner. Last year, he won back to back graded stakes races at Fair Grounds and was last seen winning an optional claiming race in November in his first start back off of a six-month break. Florent Geroux will be aboard and they will break from post position two.
Sky Flight looking for first graded stakes win
Second choice at morning line odds of 9-2 is Sky Flight for trainer Mark Casse. A five-year-old son of Sky Mesa, he has won five of his eleven starts and will be trying to earn his first graded stakes victory. He is coming into this race off of two consecutive wins and won the Artie Schiller Stakes at Aqueduct last time out. Julian Leparoux will be aboard and they will break from post five.
Consistent Roman Approval a top contender
Also in the field at morning line odds of 5-1 is Roman Approval, one of two horses in the race for trainer Michael Maker. A five-year-old son of Roman Ruler, the consistent colt has been on the board in 22 of his 27 starts and is a seven-time winner. He was second in a minor stakes race at Gulfstream Park last time out and will break from post position seven under Shaun Bridgmohan.
