On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the day of stakes races continues with the $100,000 Kittens Joy Stakes. Restricted to three-year-olds, the one mile race is carded on the turf and has drawn a field of seven colts and geldings.
Conquest Daddyo tops the competitive field as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer Mark Casse. Purchased for $350,000 as a yearling by Conquest Stables, the bay colt is a son of Scat Daddy and has two wins from four starts, including a graded stakes win at two. He has been on the shelf since finishing fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) in October and has been training steadily since then. Joe Bravo will be aboard and they will break from the outside post.
Azar trying for second stakes win
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Azar for trainer Todd Pletcher. A dark bay son of the recently deceased stallion Scat Daddy, he cost $300,000 as a yearling and has been on the board in three of his five starts. He will be trying to earn his second career victory but did break his maiden against graded stakes competition in the With Anticipation Stakes (G2) at Saratoga. John Velazquez will be aboard from post position four.
Life Imitates Art looking for second straight score
Also in the field at morning line odds of 3-1 is Life Imitates Art for trainer Chad Brown. A bay son of More Than Ready, he has been on the board in all five starts and is trying to notch his third career victory. He was last seen winning the Dania Beach Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park in January. He will have Joel Rosario in the irons and they are scheduled to break from post position six as he goes for two in a row.
