The $75,000 Louisiana Handicap January 26 at Fair Grounds features a field of six older horses set to contest the mile and one sixteenth event on the main track. 
The Grade 2 $200,000 Fort Lauderdale Stakes is the third and featured stakes event of the afternoon January 10 at Gulfstream Park with a field of thirteen set to contest the mile and one sixteenth event on the turf. 
Stakes action begins early New Year’s Eve at Fair Grounds with the $90,000 Louisiana Futurity scheduled for race 1, and a field of seven two year-old fillies set to contest the six furlong event on dirt. 
After a two year hiatus, the Tropical Park Derby returns to Gulfstream Park Saturday, December 20 with a full field of 14 plus two on the also eligible list set to go the mile and one sixteenth journey on the grass. 
Among the eight Claiming Crown races scheduled on the opening day card December 6 at Gulfstream, the $110,000 Canterbury stands out as one of the best wagering events with a field of fourteen set to contest the five furlong turf sprint. 
The $150,000 Louisiana Jewell, a mile race for two year-old fillies, is the fourth of eight stakes races to be contested as part of a stellar stakes lineup November 22 at Delta Downs. 
On Saturday at Delta Downs, the upset winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, Take Charge Brandi, will take on a field of eleven rivals in the $400,000 Delta Princess Stakes. The Grade 3 race will be run at one mile. 
On Tuesday at Mountaineer, the featured race on their Veteran’s Day card is the $85,000 Sophomore Sprint Championship. The six-furlong race has drawn a field of eight three-year-old colts and geldings. 
The $100,000 Millions Turf Preview Saturday, November 8 at Gulfstream West features a field of eight going a mile and one sixteenth on the grass – a prep race for the Sunshine Millions Turf held in January.
