A basic lesson in pedigree may give handicappers a reason to take a long look at 10/1 shot Suddenbreakingnews in the 2016 Grade 1 Belmont Stakes. 
With a field of seven evenly-matched three year-old fillies signed on, the Grade 3 Winning Colors Stakes May 28 at Churchill presents an interesting handicapping puzzle. 
The field for the 2016 edition of the Preakness Stakes (G1) is still coming together but the undefeated Nyquist could have as many as eleven challengers as he tries to become one step closer to winning the Triple Crown. The Preakness Stake (G1) will be run on Saturday, May 22 at Pimlico Race Course. 
On Sunday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the $100,000 Adoration Stakes. Restricted to fillies and mares, the Grade 3 event will be contested at a mile and a sixteenth and has drawn a field of six.

A field of seven fillies and mares is set to contest the Grade 1 La Troienne May 6 at Churchill Downs on the Kentucky Oaks undercard. 
On Sunday at Aqueduct, the track will host the $100,000 New York Stallion Stakes. Restricted to three-year-olds sired by a stallion that stands in New York, the race will be held at six and a half furlongs on the main track and has drawn a field of six colts and geldings 
With an overflow field of 14 set to contest the $100,000 Giant's Causeway April 16 at Keeneland, the five and a half furlong turf sprint for fillies and mares serves as nice side dish to the main course of graded stakes action on the card.
